CHARLES BRENNER REFLECTS
This month we introduce a new format to our scientific meeting. Robert Michels will interview Charles Brenner, training and supervising analyst at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute, and one of the most revered and respected figures in psychoanalysis worldwide.
Dr. Brenner has been a key theorist in the evolution of Freudian theory, especially in the core areas of psychoanalytic metapsychology, psychopathology, epistemology, and clinical practice. As well, he has been a leader in the development of psychoanalysis as an educational and organizational entity both locally and at the national level. More than a witness, in many ways Dr. Brenner personifies the history of the last half-century of American psychoanalysis.
This interview will provide a window into Dr. Brenner’s historical perspective, his theoretical insights and contributions, and the changes taking place in psychoanalysis today.
